LODGE INFORMATION FOR NEW MEMBERS |
The Order Sons of Italy in America (OSIA) is the oldest and largest organization of Americans of Italian ancestry in North America. Founded in New York in 1905 by Dr. Vincenzo Sellaro, the organization helped newly arriving immigrants to assimilate into their new homes.
Today, OSIA encompasses more than 100,000 members. The Charleston Chapter of OSIA, Cristoforo Colombo Lodge 1060, was founded in 1924 and continues in the spirit of Dr. Sellaro's original concept.
Cristoforo Colombo Lodge 1060 has many members who have recently arrived from Italy; we hope to provide them with fellowship and a bit of Italy here in the Low country. The Lodge is also a vehicle for individuals of Italian ancestry where they can participate in preserving, celebrating, exploring, and perpetuating their rich heritage. |
